Play is more than just fun. It’s a foundational element and legitimate right of childhood. Play fosters physical, intellectual and social development and provides pathways for social connectedness and friendships. Our partnership with India based Koochie Play Systems allows us to design, create and install safe play structures on the grounds of the orphanage but open to all children wherever they live.
We all know that sports are inextricably tied to the notion of childhood. But for children in orphanages and impoverished communities, sports are not an option. This robs them of some of the most important experiences of childhood.
Our Peer Sports programs give children access to sports by creating formal and informal teams consisting of children in orphanages and their local peers. Whether an improvised game on a dirt lot or an official tournament sport plays an important role in improving physical and mental health, social inclusion and connectedness with caring adults.
